MUSIC AND ART COLLABORATION
with artist SUSAN ROSE
Peace on the Prairie Project
“One is a songwriter. One is a painter. Both are inspired by the beauty and serenity of the Flint Hills landscape. Together they explore a common theme: the inner peace felt when seeing prairie sunsets, flowing streams, grasses, wildflowers, grazing cattle and wildlife.”

Emporia Gazette, Sept 4-5, 2021
In 2020-2021, unbeknownst to Annie, artist Susan Rose began creating paintings illustrating the lyrics of Annie’s recently-released song, “Peace on the Prairie.”
Annie was thrilled to learn of the project, and eventually Susan completed a series of 12 paintings, bringing to life the lyrics in Annie's song.
This collaboration eventually resulted in:
- two public presentations by Susan and Annie, including a concert by Tallgrass Express – at Pioneer Bluffs and The Volland Store
- several gallery showings
- a booklet telling the story of the collaboration, and matching the paintings with the lyrical lines they represent (CLICK BELOW to open)
- a set of note cards with several of the paintings
- a music & art video created by Dave Kendall of Prairie Hollow Productions CLICK AT RIGHT to view)
